The Uses and Workings OF Auricular Acupuncture
Unique and different ways of treating a certain disease has been always provided to us by Traditional Chinese medicine. It doesn’t use any type of medication and is painless, safe and natural. The human body, in Chinese medicine, constantly strives to maintain harmony and balance with the environment. Negative energy in the body is constantly eliminated via the never-ending flow of positive energy throughout the body. This exchange always goes on in the whole body system to maintain balance. Sometimes, it is done through a different type of acupuncture called ear or auricular acupuncture.
Auricular or ear acupuncture is a form of Chinese therapy that focuses on the energy channels located in the outer ear. The whole outer ear is believed to represent the whole body system of a person that controls major activities of the ear as well as the organs of the body. Needles are inserted into the ear acupuncture points which are connected to the meridians of the entire body. The needles stimulate the nerves in the ear causing signals to be sent to the brain that in turn, activates the targeted organ. This activation boosts the organ’s function which can lead to the elimination of toxins, enhanced blood flow, and better muscle movement.
There are three theories that underlie the workings of auricular acupuncture. They include:
1. Delta reflex: According to this theory, the activation of ear acupoints stimulates the part of the body targeted for treatment. This leads to a rise in temperature in the target area and at the same time also causes a rise in the temperature of the outer ear.
2. Anatomical model: This theory states that the outer ear acupoint’s location can be analogous to an inverted fetus. Whatever messages are dispatched to the body areas also goes back to the outer ear thus making it a bidirectional movement.
3. The meridian concept: In this theory, energy circulates via fixed energy channels called meridians. The root cause of any disease is the rise of a blockage in the meridians. The needling of the ear acupoints generates a therapeutic effect on the energy channels.
Chinese medicine principles and methods have been adopted by the western world and just a few modifications have been made to these principles and methods in order to make them much more effective. Western medicine has developed auricular acupuncture into what is called Auriculotherapy. This type of acupuncture uses advance technologies to stimulate the ear acupoints without the use of needles, which thus makes it more appealing to a lot of people. Some of the things used in auriculotherapy to stimulate an acupoint include electricity, pellets, pressure, magnets, and laser. Auriculotherapy was developed by Paul Nogier, a French neurologist.

Auricular acupuncture is a specialized type of treatment that requires a special class of acupuncturists who are trained and has extensive experience in the use of this type of therapy. They know how to identify the two hundred or so acupoints situated in the auricle or outer ear. Precaution should be taken that during treatment the needle should never be inserted into the auditory canal that reaches to the inner ear. It can result in complete deafness to the person. Auricular acupuncture is usually administered on the pinna, which is the fleshy part of ear.
For Chronic Diseases, TCM Works Well Than Western Medicine
One of the oldest healthcare systems in the world is herbal medicine. In Chinese culture, herbal medicine is very commonly used as they have been proven very effective in alleviating or even curing a person’s specific ailment where Western modes of treatment have failed. Herbal therapy comprises the use of herbs and herbal extracts. Various cultures and generations have tremendously benefited from this type of treatment.
The use of Chinese herbal therapy has become widespread even as far back as 2,500 BC. This type of treatment is a part of a healing system known as traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that also includes exercise, lifestyle changes, acupuncture, stress reduction practices, and physiotherapy (massage). TCM treats the entire body for optimal health.
Traditional Chinese medicine, during the last couple years, has become a big business in the USA. Some of its components like acupuncture, massage, and herbs have been validated by modern science to work well for various types of ailments. A lot of the Chinese herbs and Western drugs derived from Chinese herbs used today are designed to boost libido and treat male impotence. Both Western medicine and Eastern medicine have some things that they are good at. For the treatment of acute, conditions Western medicine is an excellent system of treatment while for treatment of chronic conditions traditional Chinese medicine is a much better option.
The reason why TCM works much better than Western medicine in treating chronic disease is because this type of treatment addresses the underlying cause of the disease which more often than not, Western medicine cannot do. Herbal therapy balances the body’s nervous system and assists in relaxing the body. Life and the natural from the point of view of Chinese medicine are ascertained by the energy that interact and are dependent with each other.

Cupping Therapy, An Ideal Way To Treat Eczema And Other Skin Problems
For thousands of years, cupping therapy has been used by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners as part of their holistic treatment for various health disorders including skin disease such as eczema. If you suffer from eczema, it may be worth your while to know more about this form of treatment as it may be the best remedy you can find for your skin problem.
Just like acupuncture, Cupping therapy has been used by ancient Chinese medicine practitioners for ages to treat a myriad of physical, emotional, psychological, and even spiritual maladies. It involves the use of suction balls at the end of glass or plastic cups placed against your skin to create a vacuum. The vacuum generates congestion locally, suctions up the skin, and dilates the energy vessels called meridians in your body. Meridians, according to TCM, are the channels from which vital energy known as Chi enters and circulates within the body. Illnesses and diseases arise when the meridian channels are blocked. Cupping therapy can dilate and open up the meridians to help accelerate recovery and bring about healing.
Apparently, the skin can benefit tremendously from Cupping therapy. It can stimulate the skin tissues which can help release the toxins in your body. The process of detoxification can also boost the health of your varicose veins since it prevents potential blood clotting in the veins, capillaries, and arteries. But perhaps, the most important thing about cupping therapy is that it stimulates the lymphatic system, the system that creates the antibodies that help prevent and combat diseases.
That being said, we can also use cupping therapy as an ideal alternative healing modality for the cure of eczema and other skin conditions such as boils. The reason for its potency is that this technique has the ability to eliminate the pathogens that victimize the skin – the same pathogens that can set off an eczema flare-up. This technique also boosts blood flow and increases its purification. There are certain theories stating that certain forms of eczema are the result of issues related to blood circulation. In this regard, Cupping may just be the ideal answer that can completely cure eczema.
During a cupping therapy procedure, the glass or plastic cups are placed on specified pressure points on your body. For the treatment of eczema, the points used are found on various parts of the body including right above the ankle, at the upper edge of your spinal cord, just under your kneecap, and near your navel. When the glass or plastic cups are placed in these areas, it induces a deep sense of relaxation and calmness. This is exactly what you would experience when you undergo cupping therapy. The feeling can be so relaxing that a lot of people fall asleep during the procedure and wake up feeling extremely reinvigorated and refreshed.
Cupping therapy is an ideal alternative treatment for eczema and is definitely worth trying. Unfortunately, Western conventional medicine has no real cure for eczema which makes cupping therapy even more worth considering. Right now, doctors can only relieve the discomfort that eczema brings by using ways that are actually ineffective. Other than that, they will give you no assurances that compete healing would occur. Since your doctor can only address the symptoms of your eczema and not its underlying cause, the outbreaks will keep on reoccurring. The best way to cure yourself of eczema is to combine the therapeutic benefits of alternative therapies with Western conventional modes of treatment.
